What is Christian Mentoring and Coaching?
“Mentoring is a dynamic, intentional relationship of trust, in which one person (The Mentor) enables another (The Mentee) by sharing their God-given experience and resources, to maximise the grace of God in their life, and in the service of God’s Kingdom purposes” – Leighton Ford, Arrow Leadership Programme.
Paul Wilcox taught me that: Elijah and Elisha are one of many great examples of Mentoring and Coaching that is given in the Bible. Elijah threw his cloak around Elisha, which was a powerful symbolic gesture that began their mentor – mentee relationship.
The Greatest Mentor is of course Jesus Christ. Jesus is the perfect model, method and message for mentoring/coaching through how he loves and disciples us.
The G.R.E.A.T Kids Life Coach programme has two out workings. The G.R.E.A.T Kids programme is designed for schools and youth/kids clubs or groups. This is purely Life Coaching sessions. The other side of the programme is designed for Christian or church kids. It incorporates the G.R.E.AT Kids Life Coach programme with a greater emphasis and input on Biblical concepts of Life Coaching and Mentoring. It also sets aside time in the programme for prayer with the client(s).
The G.R.E.A.T. Prog undertakes to show people that they have the power to choose direction for themselves but also that we have a God who wants to help them to achieve their goals. It also aims for each person to realise their true potential and know they can make individual choices that they have the power to liberate their lives rather than be bound by the perceptions of others.
G.R.E.A.T. Kids aims to work alongside young people to show them that not everyone and especially God has not given up on them. I want to show them how unique and special they are and that there is a purpose for their lives and plans can be made in order to fulfil that purpose. I want to show them there is NO-ONE else like them and NO-ONE else is capable of doing what they do in the way they do it.
